Yahoo! Group Guidelines
- The Cherished Children Yahoo! Group online forum is privately moderated.
It is not affiliated with Attachment Parenting International (API).
- All attachment parenting (AP) parents are welcome, regardless of
work status, marital status, socio-economic status, religious or cultural
beliefs, ethnic or racial background, gender, or sexual orientation.
We ask that potentially controversial discussions regarding any of the
above-mentioned topics not be discussed on this forum. Members who post
controversial messages regarding these topics will be given a reminder
and then will be asked to leave the group.
- This forum has been created for expectant families who plan to practice
AP once their child is born and for parents, grandparents, guardians, and care providers
actively practicing most or all of the AP ideals as they are listed
on the API website. We don't require that families who participate in the forum practice all of the AP
ideals, but we do believe that this is a place for supporting those who currently practice or hope to practice at least many of the ideals. Everyone is asked to remain
respectful of the AP parenting style regardless of whether or not they
practice those ideals in their families.
- We ask each member to weigh all of the opinions and advice shared
here to determine whether or not it is appropriate for your family.
Please feel free to use or disregarded this information at your discretion
and remember to take what works for you and leave the rest
behind when reading and posting messages to this forum.
- Because the nature of this Yahoo! Group is one of support, information
of a personal nature may be posted. As such, it is vital that this information
remain confidential. It must not be shared with non-members as
forms of gossip, private e-mails, or networking. We realize
that discussion with your spouses or significant other is to be expected
we require that they keep any personal information discussed confidential.
Members that violate this requirement will be asked to leave
the group.
- For the sake of privacy and respect we ask that all emails sent to
the Cherished Children Yahoo! Group not be forwarded to anyone else
(this includes individuals and other group forums) without receiving
the express permission of the author(s).
- This list is intended to support parents who practice AP. This means
that all members can come to the board and ask questions and share triumphs.
All members are allowed to share advice and all members are asked to
share their excitement for other member's successes. When reading and
responding to messages, we ask you to remember that none of us are perfect
and that we all make mistakes. That is a large part of why we need to
have a support system and why we would like to ensure that our Yahoo!
Group is a safe place to come for support. We ask you to refrain from
being judgmental, competitive or unkind and to treat each other with
respect and empathy.
- This list is open to all aspects of parenting (e.g. health care, diapering,
nutrition, birth) so we ask you to remember that we are all striving
to make the best decisions for our families and that each family is
unique. If someone has a differing view than you, please remember that
(s)he is making the decisions that (s)he feels is the right decision
for her/his child and that you needn't try to convince them of the contrary.
Friendly discussions are allowed but derogatory or harsh emails will
be grounds for removing you from the list. If you have concerns regarding
an email or a topic, please email one of the leaders immediately.
- This list is also the appropriate place to post events such as: monthly
meetings, playgroups, fundraisers, group chats, etc.
- We ask that this list not be used to advertise politics, religion,
sales parties or businesses unless there is a designated database or
file for such advertisements. If you have a question about whether there
is a section designated or whether there could be one created, please
email the group owner. Mass mailings are not allowed and members who
send out emails of this nature (spam) will be given this one reminder
and will then be asked to leave the group if the spamming continues.
We do recommend that you include your business name/title in your signature
as that is a great way of advertising your business in a non-intrusive
way.
- In order to guarantee all group members' privacy, it is vital that
personal contact information (e.g. names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses) exchanged or posted on this board remain confidential and not
be shared with non-group members for any other purposes.
- The owners of this group reserve the right to change, add, or delete
any of the above to support the purpose of the list and the subscribers.
