Online ForumThe Cherished Children API online forum is a parent/guardian support group for families with children of all ages and those expecting children in Boulder, CO, and surrounding areas. Parents, grandparents, guardians, and care providers are welcome in this group whether they are experienced in Attachment Parenting or are just beginning their exploration of the philosophy. Families on this list should be interested in learning more about the Attachment Parenting philosophy and practice most of the Attachment Parenting ideals. All parents on this list are required to be respectful of the AP philosophy and ideals regardless of whether or not they practice each of them with their families. The Cherished Children Yahoo! Group online forum is privately moderated. It is not affiliated with Attachment Parenting International (API). Attachment Parenting is a philosophy that emphasizes listening and responding to your child(ren)'s needs. AP is centered on “building and maintaining an empathic, cooperative relationship with our children rather than a power-over relationship with them.” With this belief as our foundation, Attachment Parenting encourages childbirth preparation, breastfeeding on cue, co-sleeping, baby wearing or frequent holding, gentle discipline and responding promptly to your child's cries to the extent that this works for the child and parents. It is understood that all families are different and what works for one may not work for another. The important thing is to listen to your child and do what works best for him/her and the entire family. In addition, some members of the Cherished Children API group are supportive of other natural parenting practices such as: natural childbirth, extended breastfeeding, cloth diapering, healthy diet, and informed choices about healthcare, etc. Discussion of these topics on the Cherished Children API group is allowed but we ask group members to remember that not all attached parents share in these particular views so be kind and considerate when posting on these topics. Disrespect will not be tolerated in the group. If there is advice given or information posted that you don't like (or agree with) please disregard it or email the person privately for clarification. If you are disrespectful of the way a parent does or does not implement the Eight Ideals of Attachment Parenting or any natural parenting practices, you will be given a reminder that we do not tolerate disrespect and unkindness.
