JoAnn Keller with Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten

I have been involved in education since 1973. Totally emersing myself in teaching within public education, I soon felt the disconnects and disillusionment of this huge machine called public education.  In addition, I soon realized that very little was based upon a foundation of cognitive development.  I left education entirely, never to come back to it, so I thought.

I traveled to Findhorn, Scotland where I spent three years.  In the village, a small Waldorf school was beginning.  I was intrigued, and I began to investigate.  Then my own three children arrived.  The more I learned about Waldorf education, the more sense it made to me.  I inwardly vowed that my dear children would attend a Waldorf school.  In order for this wish to manifest, I had to take the Waldorf Teacher Training.  Once a certified Waldorf Class Teacher, we moved from Chestnut Ridge, NY to Santa Fe, NM and finally to Denver, CO.  My children attended Green Meadow Waldorf School, Santa Fe Waldorf School and Denver Waldorf School.  Each school had different strengths and personalities if you will. I feel that each of my children received a high-quality, worthy education.  As a teacher, I felt that the important work of education was truly occuring with my class.

In June of 2005 I resigned from teaching and am now working as Office Manager of the Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten.
