______________________________________ Patience Bleskan founded Parents & Children Empowered in 2004 and created classes for parents on child development designed to help parents find the meaning behind their child's behaviors. Patience spoke to Cherished Children parents about the developmental levels of children ages birth through age five and how to use knowledge of these levels when disciplining our children at our March 8, 2006, meeting. ______________________________________ Patrick Peterhans, CFP, of Focused Financial Planning presented at our October 12, 2005, meeting on the topic of surviving on a reduced family income. ______________________________________ Jodi Jill, author of five books on the subject of tours, described many must-see free tours and activities in Colorado at our February 8, 2006, meeting. If you are looking for a tour that includes learning and having a good time, Jodi's book Tours for Free Colorado 2003 should be your connection. ______________________________________ Darcy Kamin, RN and UCLA Certified Lactation Consultant presented at our September 14, 2005, meeting on the topic of breastfeeding while pregnant, tandem nursing, and nursing toddlers. ______________________________________ JoAnn Keller of Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten will speak at our November 8, 2006, meeting. ______________________________________ Lena Mitson, co-founder of Mother On Earth, shared with us information about the different baby carriers available today, how to use them, and why you should! We had dozens of different carriers to try out and experts to help us get our babies in them safely and comfortably at our April 12, 2006, meeting. ______________________________________ Kathie Dolce, certified HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator and Prenatal Parenting™ Instructor, of Peaceful Baby Birthing Consultants presented at our November 9, 2005, meeting on the topic of how to welcome your child into the family before birth. ______________________________________ Scott Reardon, owner of Trail Kids in Boulder, joined us for a discussion of safe and fun outdoor recreation the whole family can enjoy on May 10, 2006. ______________________________________ Stephanie Bryan of REAL Parenting (Respect, Empathy, Appreciation and Love) will join us on September 13, 2006, to speak about raising our children using the philosophies of Love and Logic, REAL Parenting, Parent as Coach (Diana Haskins), Non-Violent Communication (Marshall Rosenberg), How to Talk so Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk (Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish), Happiest Toddler on the Block (Harvey Karp), and Parenting from the Inside Out (Dan Siegel and Mary Hartzell). ______________________________________ Mary Jane Holland of the Boulder Public Library will be joining us on October 11, 2006, to talk about reading to our kids - how to recognize when they're ready to move from one type of book to the next, how we can help them learn to read, and what do those children's book awards mean.
