Attachment Parenting is a philosophy based in the practice of nurturing parenting methods that create strong emotional bonds, also known as secure attachment, between the infant and parent(s). This style of parenting encourages responsiveness to the infant or child's emotional needs, and develops trust that their emotional needs will be met. As a result, this strong attachment helps the child develop secure, empathic, peaceful, and enduring relationships. Cherished Children Attachment Parenting International (API) of Boulder is a chapter of Attachment Parenting International, which promotes these parenting practices through its Eight Principles of Parenting.

Our Mission

"Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes real happiness.
It is not obtained through self-gratification,
but through fidelity to a worthy purpose."

-Helen Keller-

Cherished Children API is a collaborative community of families aspiring to practice the ideals of Attachment Parenting. Our "worthy purpose" is to lovingly guide our cherished children through affection, empathy, and respect so that they:

  • form meaningful relationships with others
  • are healthy
  • are empathetic and compassionate
  • are confident
  • are kind and polite
  • think and act morally; make wise choices
  • are smart
  • have a healthy attitude toward sexuality
  • communicate well
  • have a joyful attitude

We welcome all people in harmony with these parenting values to share with us their successes and challenges.
